A special investiture ceremony was held at the Embassy of Pakistan in Beijing on May 13.

China's Vice Foreign Minister Kong Xuanyou was conferred with the civilian award of Pakistan "Hilal-e-Quaid-e-Azam" by the country's ambassador on behalf of his President to honor Kong's contributions to Pakistani development and the further strengthening of Pakistan-China relations.

Kong is now Vice Foreign Minister and Special Representative of the Chinese Government on the Korean Peninsula Affairs. He was Assistant Minister of Foreign Affairs from 2015 to 2017.

He has been a great friend of Pakistan and an ardent advocate of Pakistan-China friendship, according to the wording of the award read out at the ceremony. He has earnestly worked to promote and reinforce "all-weather friendship" between the two countries. He has cultivated goodwill for Pakistan in different spheres of influence in China.

During his work as an Assistant Minister and Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs, Kong led the Pakistan-China Strategic Dialogue aimed at promoting the bilateral relationship. Kong and his team have also contributed enormously to achieving positive outcomes from regular high-level visits between Pakistan and China, according to the announcement.

The investiture was also attended by officials of the Pakistan Embassy in Beijing and China's Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
